Confession of Murder Review

When it comes to genius movies with mind-boggling twists, no doubt Korean movies excel in that area. They have the skills to create clean ends to those web-like twists. When I read of this Confession of Murder, I admit, it first got my attention since it is Park Si Hoo’s. I can’t recall ever watching a movie with him on it. I only watch his dramas. However, due to the Park Si Hoo scandal, I was hesitant to watch this.:( But since I’ve got nothing to watch tonight, I’ve decided to see this movie.

No worries, I have no spoiler here!:)

The plot is interesting enough. So right now, I didn’t watch it just for Park Si Hoo. I watched it because of the story. Anyway, I would love to have a good memory of Park Si Hoo to replace his scandal.:)

Confession of Murder

It is about a serial killing incident that happened 15 years ago. 10 women were killed by a notorious killer (with 1 woman still missing), who wasn’t caught. They consider his crimes–perfect! There are no leads, no anything to lead the cops to the killer.

Now, there was this 15-year statute of limitations, which sets the maximum time for the legal case to be initiated. If beyond that, the suspect hasn’t been convicted yet, then the court can no longer punish him.

Detective Choi Hyeong-goo (Jung Jae Yong), who is the lead detective to investigate the case, tried so hard to catch the murderer. However, he wasn’t able to. On the time the liability of the murderer expires, a man named  Lee Doo-seok (Park Si Hoo) released a book–a book that says, “He is the murderer”.  In just a snap of time, the books became best-seller. The author became an instant celebrity. However, Detective Choi believes he is a fraud.

2012 - Confession of Murder (Still 2)

But no matter how much Choi tried to prove that Lee is not the real culprit, no one can dismiss the fact that only the real killer can describe what really happened that vividly. There was an uproar. Ironically, the one claiming to be a killer got a huge fans club. He’s got security here and there and a lot of cameras to capture his every move.

2012 - Confession of Murder (Still 6)

The infamous killer and detective were staged in a televised debate with the detective still accusing Lee of being a fraud. During the debate, someone named J called , brushing-off Lee’s claim that he’s the real killer. Now, there are 2 men claiming to be the serial killer who killed 10 women.

The question is, who’s the real killer then? If Lee is not the real murderer, how could he have written the scenarios accurately? The answer? That’s for you to find out dear readers!:)

Review

Confession of Murder is a nice work-of-art. At first I was scared to watch this because this is about serial killing. Given the fact that Koreans are quite excellent in producing disturbing movies, I thought that is also what to expect in this movie. I was wrong. There’s no bloody scenario or very disturbing ones. I love that it’s light, but brilliant.

If there’s one scenario that would mark this movie, I think that’s the exceptional car scene. It’s like the real thing!

The stunts are impressive and death-defying! I wonder how many got injured with that car scene. The twist and turn of the story is also brilliant. Who the real killer was and how their lives got entangled… watch it and you’ll find out!:) Told you, I do not have spoilers here.:)

If you are into action, thriller, and logical films, I recommend that you watch this. It will worth your time.

Thumbs up for this movie!:) You can watch this at http://www.gooddrama.net
